AMD just introduced its sixth generation EPYC server chips for the agentic data center.
At the Advancing AI 2026 event, the EPYC 9006 Series targets agentic AI, cloud, enterprise, and HPC workloads.
AMD frames a three tier design: chips to run agents, chips to feed GPUs, and general purpose servers.
The SP7 reaches 256 cores and 512 threads for dense agents. The SP8 scales from 8 to 128 cores.
