AMD has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Taalas, a company building specialized silicon for AI inference.
AMD announced today it plans to acquire Taalas, a Toronto company founded in two thousand twenty three. AMD says the deal strengthens its long term AI roadmap.
AMD says Taalas technology optimizes inference dataflows, reducing compute and memory bottlenecks found in general purpose architectures. Cofounder Ljubisa Bajic says they build hardware around the model.
AMD plans to pair Taalas technology with its Instinct GPUs and add it to the accelerator roadmap. The deal is subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
