Meta's open-source AI models, SAM 3 and DINOv3, are now running inside the US Department of Energy's national laboratories as part of SYNAPS-I, the first project under the White House Genesis Mission to accelerate scientific discovery with AI.

Meta just announced its open source AI models power the Genesis Mission to speed up American science.
The White House Genesis Mission is running at national energy labs. The first project uses two Meta open-source models, SAM three and DINOv three, to label X-rays in real time.
Grapevine drought scans that used to need one month of expert annotation now finish in about fifteen minutes while the experiment is still running.
The pipeline runs on three hundred A one hundred GPUs at NERSC, with sixty researchers across five national labs.
Because the models are open source, the labs fine tune and deploy them on secure government infrastructure.
