Microsoft just released a tool that lets communities decide how AI is trained to represent them.
It is called the Community Library Creator. Groups build image sets covering disabilities, identities, and lived experience to teach AI systems.
Scraped internet data misrepresents people. Microsoft says AI often draws people with dwarfism with pointy ears because online images are fantasy art.
Each library gathers about four hundred real world images from members, with quality prioritized over quantity.
The community owns the data. They can share it on Hugging Face, restrict its use, or remove images later.
Microsoft researcher Anja Thieme says the goal is widening who gets a voice in shaping future AI.
